Prague Day 3
Slept in a little this morning and then went to the internet shop which is also the bagel shop so got a bagel for breakfast and as usual it was delicious. We have had great meals ever since we started this trip.

This is a bagel... |
In the afternoon we joined a few of our friends and took the 3 hour walking tour to Prague Castle which stands on a hill overlooking Prague and is quite an attraction. It is the largest medieval castle still standing in the world and much of it is still in good condition. We had to walk up the hill part of the way and then take a tram car which is part of their public transit system.

On the way up we went through other great estates and buildings. It seems that Prague has done a good job of ensuring the future of all of these historic buildings. Again as in other days the city was full of people and even more today as there was a marathon being run through the main streets of the city.

Prague is known for its' marionettes. They are so colorful. |
Prague Castle is a sprawling complex and it was started in 870.In some parts there is still the seat of the Czech Republic government as there has been for centuries. Here are a few pictures of some of the buildings.

The center of the complex is definitely the cathedral .It is magnificent to say the least. The details on the façade of the building as well as the stained glass are a sight to see.

The stunning interior |
Another thing that was good about the tour was the views it gave of the city since as we started down we stood on the crest of the hill over the town. Also since the Castle is on the other side of the river from the center of town it gave us a chance to see another part of the city.

We ended our tour with a few drinks in a beer garden we found on a side street on the way home. No eating out tonight as a few of us got together and finished the leftovers from the night before.
PS. I am behind in my postings because of limited access to speedy internet access...
