We left Murren on Wednesday morning feeling a little sad but yet excited to see another part of Switzerland.
On the way to the train station we saw a herd of chamois which was on my supper plate the night before.
Good bye to Murren
One last view going down the mountain....
Today we are heading to Lucerne which is in Central Switzerland and as usual we travel through some beautiful countryside. One area we went through is Interlaken which has many lakes.
We decided to stop for a few hours in the town of Interlaken which is a tourist resort filled with expensive shops and manicured spaces with a beautiful river running through it.
Grand hotels lined the streets.
Flowers and greenery everywhere and no litter!
Don was interested in that watch but the price tag was a little high!!
Lots of little shopping streets...
And lots of Asian shoppers!
Peaceful places to eat in the shadow of the church.
And a gorgeous little Japanese garden.
We enjoyed our short visit and then back to the train station to fetch our bags from the storage locker and then catch the next train to Lucerne.
Even the train station was neat and tidy.
The journey from Interlaken to Lucerne took about two more hours and the train was up the mountain, down the valley and up again. And of course the views continue to amaze us....
The valleys were full of farms.
Little towns...
The view of our neighbours across the aisle.
When we arrived at the Lucerne rail station we were surprised by how busy and big it was.
However the front of the rail way station has a beautiful archway.
Once we found our bus we were good to go and arrived at our Air BnB within minutes as it is located close by the station and the Old Town. Our host is a young British lady named Vicki who rents out two of her bedrooms to guests. She lives in a typical Swiss apartment, three stories up with no elevator so it is always a work out getting here. She is also the first person we met who has visited Newfoundland.
Nice clean, spacious apartment
And a chance to do laundry again...
We didn't do much the rest of the day as we were tired and it was raining. We have two full days here so there is time to get out and explore this place.
However as in every stop we went to get some supplies at the COOP which is the big grocery store chain here in Switzerland.
