The train only carries about 40 people in a 1920s style Pullman coach, it was quite luxurious. There was also a car where we were served cocktails and entertained...
There were fashion shows featuring made in Peru alpaca clothing...
And lots of dancing featuring dances from different regions of Peru, the costumes represent each region...
Don got a chance to dance as well...
The food was also amazing...
The observation car at the back...
But the most amazing part of the trip was the views outside as we passed through wide open spaces...
Beautiful grasslands...
Lots of small farms...
Many packs of llamas...
And of course mountains...
I really liked the glimpses into the rural life of Peru which is so different from the cities we have visited...
In this area they were making bricks...
Lots of farmers with animals...
People love watching the train go by...
Lots of stalls by the side of the tracks...
Some random people pictures...
We passed through some very poor looking areas as well...
Not much pavement here!
This town was celebrating with a parade...
Here the river was being used to wash your vehicle, bathe and fish...
We stopped by a small market and church...
The interior of the small church was quite colourful...
And all along the tracks were kids...
This little one was chasing the train...
He was shooting his water pistol at us...
She was happily waving...
In the larger towns there were crowds by the tracks, actually reminded us of our train rides in India where people set up their market stalls...
This lady was knitting which was a common sight in this part of Peru...
By late afternoon we were served tea and treats as our train was getting closer to Puno...
It had been a beauty of a day and we were so glad we had this experience!
