Winter went quickly in Progreso, Yucatan

Time has gone quickly as we reflect back on our four months here this winter. One of the reasons we enjoy our time here is the people we meet and get to know every year.

Enjoying the evening at the Pig Roast!

The pig was very tasty!

A lovely afternoon at the Annual Fashion Show, a fund raiser for one of the local schools.

The music got everyone up hopping and popping

We hosted a gathering of friends in the common area of our place, there were about 25 people there and we enjoyed their company.

Don and Don sharing a laugh...

Bob and Keith sharing a jalepeno popper

There was the Murder Mystery at Lizard Joe's...

Valentine's Day at Bryan's in Merida...

A lovely evening at a Hacienda celebrating a friend's birthday...

Happy Birthday Brooke!

This year I took Spanish lessons twice a week and enjoyed the lessons on Julie's porch

I also spent Wednesday afternoons with the Grade Six class at the school in Chixculub where we had lots of fun learning English and Spanish! Here are a few pictures of the class making Valentine Cards...

Beautiful children and wonderful students!
Usually Progreso is a quiet town but they have many celebrations where they love to party and play their music way too loud! Here are a few pictures I took at one of the Carnival parades on the Malecon...

Lots of people out enjoying the day.

Wonder what her mom is saying?

Lots of color!!

I even found a little one with a matching dress...

Another one of the reasons that living here is so attractive is the proximity of Progreso to Merida, the capital city of the Yucatan. There is always so much happening in the city so one hot day my friend Jayne and I decided to do the art walk from studio to studio in the Centro area of the city.

We came across an art class in one of the galleries where the art was fantastic.

We finished with some lunch in the shade...

Another day I went in the city with another group of friends and visited this artist who is an amazing sculptor!

We had great lunches at Taco Mayo in Chelem....

Fancy dinners at SOMA in Merida...

Fun times celebrating St Paddy's Day at Hennesseys Pub...

Lots of beer and fish at the Terminal on Monday afternoons...

So as can be seen by these pictures of wonderful times and many others which are not shown this was a winter of fun, relaxation and lots of sun! But as with all things it must come to an end as we prepare to move on. Adios!!!
