Christmas in the Rockies

We also spent a few days in Jasper, a small town in the Canadian Rockies. We rented a car and drove approximately 350 kms southwest to reach Jasper.

Jasper surrounded by the Rockies

Driving into Jasper

Looks cold doesn't it?

We stayed at the Jasper Inn and suites where we had a small one bedroom with a lovely wood burning fireplace.

Dawn and Matt went skiing while we walked and explored the town and some of the trails. We had the company of Rory as we were also dog sitting for one day. As you can see by the pictures she is a one eyed Husky who lost her left eye to a porcupine quill this fall. She is a lovely dog who doesn't demand too much and is great company.

The area was decorated for the season...

We went for a drink at Jasper Park Lodge, one of the fanciest hotels in the area...

Saw some of the local wildlife...

It was a nice side trip from the city. When we got back to Edmonton the weather had changed for the better with only -1.

We have enjoyed our time here with Matt,Dawn and Rory and hope we can visit again before they leave.
