One of many Easter processions...
Many families on the beach every day.
Filling beer bottles with sand....
Enjoying the water...
The best part of a holiday is the food....
Having lunch in the shade of the boat...
Some industrious families set up tables and chairs to sell pescado frito
We also had our last few meals in PM and as usual they were delicious..
Stuffed chicken....
Jack Daniels salmon....
We are now in Playa del Carmen for a couple of days on our way back to Toronto tomorrow through Cozumel. Playa del Carmen is about 30 minutes south of Puerto Morelos and a very different town in every way.
There are about 150,000 people living here including a large ex pat community. The town and surrounding area welcomes over 2 million tourists a year and it seems most of them are in town now!
Hotel pool, small but refreshing.
We are staying in a small hotel a block from the beach and another block from 5th Avenue which is a mile long pedestrian street full of restaurants, bars and shops.
Lots of people and shops...
Day and night....
Magnet anyone???
Playa's beaches are nice but nothing compared to the one in Puerto Morales, they are narrow and so full of people!
Parasailing...something I haven't tried but maybe next year.
Rows of lounge chairs...
Lots of tourists, no Mexicans...
As you can probably tell we are not impressed with this place, I think we have been too spoiled by living in smaller, quieter places that fit our lifestyle much better. We are now looking forward to heading back home and will be back in Shamrock Cove when the snow melts enough to get into the cabin.
View from the cabin last winter...
Mexico has been good to us and we look forward to returning again in December. Until then hasta leuego!
